Bushnell, FL — A 68-year-old Bushnell woman has died following a traffic collision with a Sumter County school bus last week. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred on the morning of September 6 at the intersection of CR-222 and CR-223, initially leaving both drivers injured. The woman later succumbed to her injuries on September 10.

The FHP reports that the woman, driving a Ford Escort Wagon, was traveling eastbound on CR-222 when she failed to stop at a posted stop sign. Her vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a southbound Sumter County school bus, driven by a 50-year-old Wildwood woman.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the Ford Escort was treated for serious injuries, while the bus driver sustained minor injuries. Tragically, the Bushnell woman passed away from her injuries four days later.

At the time of the crash, 14 middle and high school students were being transported on the bus. All students were examined at the scene and released to their parents without injury.

The FHP is continuing to investigate the incident, and no further details have been released.
